At times being a parent can feel like one of the most rewarding experiences in life, and at other times it can feel like the most challenging job in the world. Parents are often left wondering “am I doing it right?” There can be a lot of pressure put on parents to be perfect, but in daily life with children, things don’t always go to plan. My approach to parenting is focused on learning how to be a “good enough” parent rather than the perfect parent. When I am working with parents I use the Circle of Security® approach. Circle of Security® is a relationship based approach to parenting that provides parents with a new way of understanding their child’s needs. Circle of Security ® assumes that all behavior is a form of communication, so during our work together you will learn how to better understand your child’s behavior, develop new skills, and learn how to make desired changes in your relationship with your child.
Circle of Security® Parenting program
I am qualified to facilitate Circle of Security® Parenting (COS-P).
COS-P is an internationally recognized program which draws from 50 years of research into attachment. The program is run over 8 sessions and is designed to enhance the bond and sense of security for both parent and child in their relationship by: giving parents a roadmap as a way to better understand their children's needs; inviting parents to reflect on their own experiences of being parented and how this impacts on their parenting; and providing an environment where parents can focus on their strengths and struggles without judgement. This program can be completed individually, or in a group format.
